Community Ministry Opportunities

PACS

  • Portland Adventist Community Services (PACS) has volunteer opportunities in the Food Pantry and Thrift Stores. We are currently in need of morning drivers/riders, cashiers, and goods processing. Apply online at pacsonline.org or call 503-252-8500 and ask for Kellie for more information.

amcp

  • Adventist Medical Center Portland (AMCP) is looking for volunteers who can help us fulfill our mission “to be the human expression of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ”. Our volunteers play an important role in delivering mission-focused care to our patients and visitors. With a commitment of as little as 4 hours a week you can make a difference in the lives of the people in our community. To learn more, visit AdventistHealth.org/NW/Volunteer or call 503-two51-6114

hOSPICE

  • Did you know that hospice is also about living life? Make a difference. Adventist Hospice patients need your gift of a little time as a Volunteer! Good with tools, play an instrument, like to garden, or play cards? Does it feed you to make people feel better? Help me match you with a waiting need. Caregivers need breaks to “recharge” their energies to tend to their loved one. Hospice patients with no family, especially, are greatly moved by your presence. You will be treated as an Employee of Adventist Hospice and held with the honor that you deserve. If you feel called, please contact the Adventist Health Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at (503) two51-6192 to learn more about the application process!

Hope With a Heart

  • Living Hope International has served hot breakfasts every Sunday morning to 300-400 homeless in O’Bryant Square in downtown Portland since 1994. They also provide clothing, bedding and hygiene supplies through a surplus program, plus many individual donations. Free health screening and education has been provided once a month since 1998 through Adventist Health Healthvan, offering physician visits, blood pressure checks, health information, flu shots and diabetes and cholesterol checks. Living Hope is always looking for volunteers to help cook and serve breakfast. If you would like to volunteer, meet under the Hawthorne Bridge in downtown Portland at 7 am Sunday morning. Counts towards volunteer service hours for students at PAA. Check out our Facebook page. to keep up to date with news and changes.
